Spine Overprint |
| John Peterson discovered this Spring 1947 overprint on the spine and front cover of Mrs. Dalloway (née 49.2 Anthology of Light Verse, 1935-1953). John observes that the original gold-printed letters seem to have been overprinted with semi-opaque black ink, easily scratchable with a fingernail. Ron Holl has an identical example.
Unconfirmed speculation is that too many Anthology bindings were stamped and ML needed the bindings for Mrs. Dalloway's last stand. (Dalloway's last printing was 1947.) |
